Conférenciers principaux
Prof. Waldemar Surosz, on June 9, 1995, he defended his doctoral thesis “Growth of selected species of Baltic phytoplankton in the presence of heavy metals”, on November 19, 2010, he obtained his habilitation on the basis of the thesis entitled “Polyphasic taxonomic analysis of the Baltic Sea population of Aphanizomenon flos-aquae (L.) Ralfs ex Bornet et Flahault”. He holds the position of University Professor at the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography, and the Dean of the Faculty of Oceanography and Geography of the University of Gdańsk (2012-2024). Waldemar Surosz has been chosen as Chairman of the Polish Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research Polish Academy of Sciences for the 2020-2024 term. In years 2014-2021, he has also been President of the Polish Phycological Society. He was the Head of Department of Marine Biology and Ecology at the Institute of Oceanography at the University of Gdańsk (2013-2023).
Prof. Hanna Jurata Mazur-Marzec heads the Department of Marine Biology and Biotechnology at the University of Gdańsk's Faculty of Oceanography and Geography. After earning her Master's in Chemistry (1983) and PhD in Earth Sciences (1995) from the University of Gdańsk, she achieved professorship in 2013 through presidential nomination. A prolific researcher with over 120 publications in top journals including Marine Drugs, Chemosphere, and Water Research, she has led five national grants (including three NSC projects) and participated in multiple international collaborations (COST Actions, Interreg, and Norwegian programs). Recognized for her groundbreaking work on marine bioactive compounds, she serves on editorial boards for Marine Drugs and Oceanologia, and was recently honored with Gdańsk's prestigious Jan Hevelius Science Award.
Prof. Konrad Ocalewicz leads the Aquaculture Laboratory at the University of Gdańsk's Department of Marine Biology and Biotechnology. After earning his M.Sc. in Animal Biotechnology (1998) and Ph.D. in Agriculture/Fisheries (2002) from the University of Warmia and Mazury, he completed his D.Sc. in 2011 with groundbreaking research on rainbow trout chromosome mutations. A 2021 laureate of the "Scientist of the Future" award for his telomerase research in fish development, his expertise spans fish cytogenetics, genome engineering, and telomeric DNA dynamics. He serves on editorial boards for Journal of Fish Biology and Oceanological and Hydrobiological Studies, and holds fellowships from the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions and Foundation for Polish Science. Appointed to Croatia's Institute of Oceanography and Fisheries Scientific Council, he actively contributes to international aquaculture research through multiple collaborative projects.
Dr. Marcin Kuciński is an Assistant Professor at the University of Gdańsk’s Faculty of Oceanography and Geography, where he conducts research in the Aquaculture Laboratory of the Division of Marine Biology and Ecology. After completing his undergraduate, master’s, and Ph.D. studies in fisheries at the University of Warmia and Mazury, he has become a recognized expert in fish genomics and molecular diagnostics. Specializing in DNA genotyping, PCR techniques, bioinformatics, and biotechnological applications for aquaculture, he has published extensively in leading scientific journals. His collaborative work with Prof. Konrad Ocalewicz focuses on fish genetics and reproductive biology, contributing significantly to advancements in aquaculture production through innovative genetic research.
